We had the most beautiful spring I ever remember having in Florida. It seemed that summer wasn't going to come this year. BUT as I stepped out of church yesterday morning (June 10th) I realized that summer had finally made it's arrival. Was it ever HOT and HUMID! However, last evening we had a wonderful and refreshing rain and this morning all the plants were tall and beautiful and the grass a vibrant green.

Today was really HOT. 95 here in Orlando. Once again the afternoon storms came and now it is beautiful out. And for the first time in awhile, I'm not going to have to add water to the pool this week!

Our pool water has finally made it up to 85 and feels great...it's the best way to stay cool this time of year!

Has Summer made it to your city yet?

Summer heat is here, but the rain isn't. Something's odd here, but I know it will be hot and miserable from now till October. We need our afternoon storms back!

Lived in Tampa all my life, seems we see less and less rain as the years go by!

I am now on the Pasco gulfcoast, and we get even less rain here in the summer, sometimes we go weeks without rain in the summer. Also winters have become very dry and warm, we don't see the big freezes of the 70's or 80's! The last big freez was on Dec 25th in 1989.

Yes, it has. It is stunning here. But then again, it always is.

The trees are endless. The mountains will take your breath away. The gold finches, that look just like yellow parakeets, fight for the bird feeder with the cardinals, bluebirds and mourning doves.

My tomato, pepper and cucumber plants have tripled in size since I planted them a few weeks ago.

In the winter, there is a small dusting of snow once, and it melts in a couple of hours. Barely cold, but great snuggling weather, whether you have someone or just a warm sweater.

Autumn is an incredible color show. I'm sure you have all seen the pictures of the Great Smoky Mountains!

But the spring, oh the spring, is a riot of bursting purples, yellow, pinks...on the trees in the FORESTS. It goes on for miles and is amazing.

But the best part is, year round, when I go to the grocery store, the clerk wants to know about my day, and means it.

sorry hiknapster, but i've been to eastern tn in the summer. it was hot as hell. and the winters are gray and overcast. i lived in it for 10 yrs. from oct to march, and sometimes april, it isnt 75 degrees with a gentle breeze from the northwest, while the birds are chirping from afar, as the neighbors serve you breakfast in bed while reading you today's paper.

obviously a few jokes tied in, but you get my drift. no state has perfect weather.

Nope. No state's weather is perfect, or we would be all there, packed in like sardines.

But Knoxville and Chattanooga is cooler than Fort Myers, Florida, ALL DAY LONG.

And I'm not selling Tennessee. I don't even own here. And I'm not in the construction business.

Hiknapster...I plan to be up your way the last 2 weeks in July. Save the beautiful weather for me! I hope it's not too hot...I'm hoping to hike to the summit of Mt. Rogers ....not a strenuous hike but it is 8 miles and I'm out of shape! LOL

Get ready for the heat though! Knoxville is supposed to have highs next week at 93. The difference is that it tends to cool more at night (high 60's and low 70's).

Oh, I know that it's summer because I have gotten my first cold. This one hit me last night and has taken my voice away. In an average June-October period I get sick 4-5 times. I rarely get sick from November-April, except in those hot years. Can't talk, can't make sales. Another way that Florida causes money to be lost.
