I am going down in July early and won't cancel my trip. Even if the oil hit the beach which is unlikely the residents will need all the help they can get. I will put the family by the pool and head out to help clean up. But as of right now even with the amount of oil spilled surpassing the valdez spill, it will not make it to the beaches of west florida. The plumes threatening the florida coast are underwater and dispersed which means they will not get out of the channel they have made it to. Keys are very likely since the channel runs right to them but not the coastline of the state.

YEs,we've been tracking the oil spill as best as we can too. And we check out pcbdaily every day.As well as several other web sites.

But the hurricane season is a concern for us as well. Plus! We're hearing
now that TAR BALLS have been found in Pensacola Fla.....
Pensacola Fla!!! Thats really becoming a concern now. I haven't
canceled my plans yet,and my condo renter says that I will be refunded
100% if the beaches are closed. But it does worry me some.

So,you have plans for June 15th?

Yes I am heading down on the 15th....fingers crossed. This is so sad. If anything happens to the beautiful florida beaches, I am going to be heartbroken. Thank you for sharing the other sights...I have added them to my daily list. Where are you guys planning on staying? I would feel so much better if they could just get the darn thing stopped so we could focus on the cleanup, right now it seems so hopeless. Hoping your plans work out.........

you're welcome....

I've become very, very concerned about this thing all over again. The last couple weeks, there has been countless reports that everything will be fine in the state of Florida. But as you can see by the 72 HR link I provied, they are expecting some land fall in the Gulf Shores of Alabama.Which isn't but about 33 to 35 miles away. I don't want it to sound like that I am only concerned about my vacation in PCB FL. Cause I think the oil spill in general, has everyone really upset. On another bad note,I read that 27 confirmed DOLPHINS have been found dead. This is just so disturbing,I'm so sick. My wife almost cried. Like you,I'm just heart broken,I really am. Please GOD...Help them stop this mess.

Far as my vacation,we're slated to arrive in PCB Fl from SC in Mid June, and I am basicly holding my breathe. THis dern thing could mean never getting back there ever again.Folks, keep your fingers crossed, and pray for this thing to end, and SOON.

We just canceled our reservation in Perdido Key and are trying to out run the oil at least for next week. We now have a reservation in Panama City. Keeping fingers crossed. Hopefully we will be fine seeing as it tacks on an additional 2.5 hours drive time.

We have reservations over the 4th of July in Panama and im praying it never hits those beaches. Ive traveled all over and some of the prettiest beaches in the world are in the gulf. I go there every single year on the 4th and i always start looking forward to it around Christmas time. From everything I have been reading lately, it may miss Panama, but things seem to be changing daily. I just ask the locals on here to try to keep us posted.

Brings tears to my eyes just watching and listening to that! It was just a matter of time. We go to Perdido Key every year at this time but were delayed a week this year due to y son needing to finish off two days of school this week. Makes me wish we would have just skipped them and gone last week.
We will be heading over to PC next week. Hopefully it will not get that far that quickly but this week it is moving rather rapidly.
