I think you are being facetious, but those are mostly dogwoods.

I was born and lived in the Daytona Beach area for 27 years. I just moved last month to Denver, Colorado after finally getting a job out here. Thinking back on Florida there really isn't a single thing I miss other than family + friends, but that has nothing to do with the state itself.

Most of my friends and family also want to move almost anywhere else, we're all born native so it seems like a lot of natives (at least that I know) want out.

People out here seem nicer in general, the scenery is awesome, the weather is nicer (yes I know it will snow in the winter), and lots more things to do especially if you're into outdoorsy stuff.

The only thing that I think I could miss is the beach, but I was never really into that much anyway.

North Florida has plenty a season change in terms of fall colors and leaves falling off.

^^^ Could you post some pics for us? I'm a FL native and although never lived in N FL, I've only seen a very slight change in color on a few trees.

Thx for sharing. There was a little bit of color in those leaves. The last 3 pictures really showed the color change better than the first 2.

Default Florida Withdrawls

This is a cool thread, because people who have undergone a "florida withdrawl" can definitely relate to this. I grew up in Sweetwater in Dade and I moved to Philly for college. I figured it would be cool to meet more "american" people and see more of an "america" I hadn't been exposed to. I didn't understand that all "americans" weren't alike. Specifically, the people in philly sucked. They acted different, talked different and behaved differently than I was accustomed to. Down here, people are talkative, they like to be outside, like to do things (recreationally) and are very sloooow and take their sweet time . Up there...they were so rude. Like unbelievably rude: they didn't really talk much, were very introverted. Forget about even striking up a conversation with strangers: they looked at me like I was about to rob them. They also love their "hustle and bustle" - no time to talk, gotta run, always on the move. No one would just sit down and eat a mango or drink some sweet tea. It was coffee in hand running down the street with the herd.

Oh and Florida has two things I didn't realize until I left: BEAUTIFUL SCENERY and WARM WEATHER YEAR ROUND. I didn't realize the species diversity we had here: palms, oaks, broomeliads, flowers flowers flowers and a bazillion fruit trees. Pass by houses in Miami and you'll see banana trees, avocado trees, mango trees, mamey trees everything! Up there, all the trees look the same, all the shrubs look the same - no big tropical leaves and creepy but beautiful hanging moss, its just boring. And the winter - hahahaha BRUTAL. i realize it never gets cold here in florida -"ohh thats not true it does get freezing here specially north florida" -- UMM NO. 32 degrees, used to be cold for me. The new cold for me is below 0 windchill. Blasting me in my face. 70 INCHES OF SNOW. ruining my swagg, ugh nightmare place philly is srsly --- so gray too, no paint on homes or building. FL has blue/pink/yellow/green homes ---- they're all white and grey there.

Anyways, yeah moved back down here an LOVIN IT!

Gimme a hot blastin summer over a freezing winter anyday. It gives me a tan and keeps me lean.

I thought the first one was perfect. Lots of color. I have seen much color up in the Green Swamp after some 66 years of observation.

eta: thank you Gatornation for those pics. I enjoy pics and those were lovely.
