Default Moving to Pensacola

I might be taking a job in pensacola as an experimental psychologist. However, my partner want to go back and do her PhD in rehabilitation counseling. It looks like the closest program is in Tallahassee. This is a 3 hour commute.

Is there a good place to look for renting somewhere between?
Is there a public transport system in place (e.g., bus, train, etc)?
Any suggestions are welcome. Even personal experiences.

Thanks
Mike

We have lived in Pensacola Beach and attended FSU. It is exactly 3 1/2 hours between those two points. If you cut that in half and start looking that should be a good starting point. Amtrak serves those 2 cities, Tallahassee and Pensacola but is very hit and miss I had to wait for 12 hours one time to catch a train home to Pensacola. If you have a job waiting for you in one of these cities i would recommend living in that city and renting a place in the other. For us we had to rent a place in Tally and lived in P'cola. We would spend the weekends together it was not to bad for the duration of school. If you choose to commute know that, that stretch of I-10 is constantly patrolled by the State Police I picked up a couple of tickets while commuting there. If you want to split the difference Panama city would be viable. Hopefully this will work out for you.

3 1/2 hours??? They're 200 miles apart. Just how slow are you driving? Even if you only drive 65, you're looking at 3 hours. If you get up to 70/75, you can do it in 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Jello,
I am always amazed at how people try to tell me I am wrong about something even when I have lived it, drove it, and done it. I will write it in simple chapter and verse. If you live on I-10 then yes you could for all purposes make it from the city limits of Tally to the city limits of P'cola. I personally did not live on the interstate I lived on the beach in Pensacola and in Southwood in Tallahassee. So it took me on a good day 20-30 minutes just to get to the interstate and 20 minutes to get from the interstate to my house. So using your number of 2 hours and 45 minutes we could add 40 minutes to an hour bringing the grand total to the neighborhood of 3 and a half hours. Again if you live on the interstate then yes you could make it a bit shorter.
