Hello, I am interested in hearing of any possibilities that may match most of this criteria to live in:

Southern area (Tampa and down). Most of my family is in Miami so the closer, the better.

Coastal areas on the beach (east or west coast is fine).

I need some place with a lot of nature abundance that is perhaps big on ecology and conservation but still have a nice and large, lively metropolitan area(s) nearby. Maybe islands off the coast of major cities?

Diverse spread of ages and interests: Young people, families, retired folks in or surrounding areas.

Someplace rather liberal (socially and politically if possible).

Cost is not a major issue.

Thanks to anyone that may take the time to reply!!!!

For someplace that is big on conservation/ecology, is liberal, coastal/beach front and somewhat close to a metro area/Miami I'd recommend Key West.

From what you described, sounds like South Florida (Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties) are where you should start looking. You are going to find a diverse age group, close to the everglades and the ocean for some nature. South Florida is probably the largest area of liberal people in Florida. You will be also closer to family on the east coast.
