Hi i've mentioned before that my wife is a trained nurse/midwife, we are activley looking to relocate to florida hopefully in the near future. We originally were looking at the Dr Phillips area of Orlando as we know this area well from numerous vacations over the years and also for it's good schools low crime etc. We had hoped we could afford to buy a house outright and not have to take on a mortgage (we have a budget of around U.K 150000 which at current exchange rates would give us around $210000) but with the exchange rate dropping daily from it's 2 dollars to the pound around 8 months ago this now looks unlikely as the house prices are well in excess of this amount. Therefore can anyone objectively recommend/suggest other possible areas which although within our budget offer the same qualities i.e good schooling, low crime rate, great place to live scenario that the Dr Phillips area offers. We are looking towards a 4 bed minimum preferably with a pool for the kids. The agency can find hospital vacancies all around the state but we do want to stay fairly local to the Orlando to Tampa kind of area because of the attractions, parks etc, again for the kids to enjoy (and us big kids aswell!!)By the coast doesn't interest us though. We would be extreamly grateful for any suggestions, we are coming over on vacation for a month in August/September so will be able to have a look around any possibilities then. Thanks in advance Colin

August and September are the most active Hurricane months for Florida, so I would purchase trip insurance just incase you need to change plans.

yes were fully covered with travel insurance. Do we assume there are no other areas that have the same quality / standard that Dr Phillips has.

Windermere, Winter Park, Avalon Park, Baldwin Park and College Park also get mentioned as areas with similar quality and standards.

I like Dr Phillips personally because it is more central to everything orlando has to offer (you are in between downtown Orlando and Disney, and Universal studios and the Millenia Mall are just a few miles away. DP also has great restaurants and grocery stores (including a Whole Foods market), as well as top notch schools in the Orlando area.
