I don't want to eat a "tail". Especially from an ox. It's not really ox though, is it?
And whoever said steak is overrated because it's "so dry" has obviously never had a good steak. A good steak is NOT dry!

I was gonna say the same thing about the steak comment. When I was a kid growing up, I thought I hated steak. I learned as an adult that this was for two reasons:
1. My mom bought cheap, tougher cuts of steak (no filet mignon!)
2. She cooked the hell out of it.

Nothing better than a medium-rare juicy filet mignon on the grill!

Yes, I'm fully prepared to "underrate" anything called an "oxtail," or any animal's tail for that matter.

From what people say, it's all fatty, and lots of vertebrae. That's a good thing?

hubby's mom the same. To her steak was either chicken fried, ground round (probably chuck or less) or swiss. I remember my parents taking hubby's parents out for dinner just before our wedding, 53 years ago. My father in law order filet, well done, the waitress told him it would have to be butterflied, he had no idea what she was talking about. It didn't take long, after we were married for me to train hubby on the importance of good eating habits, like "always eat good steak and eat it med" Now it is eat it med rare.

Oh, stop it. Now I'm going to have to take a steak out of the freezer and tenderize it (because it's cheap chuck).

I think scones are a big waste of calories. Usually dry and hard with bad fruit. I never had a scone I was happy with. Even the $4 each ones at the little bakery in Malibu.

You're right! I just said about a week ago I don't "get" the love affair people have with scones. Completely overrated. Dry, flavorless.

Right up there with biscotti. Dry pieces of cake/bread that taste stale.

I can only eat biscotti or scones if I'm starving, they are the only food around, and I can dip them in my coffee.

Overrated: Polenta. It's just corn meal mush, for God's sake!

Underrated: Any restaurant menu item that doesn't have at least a dozen words in the title. What's up with that, anyway?

Oh, yeah, and a BLT on white toast.
