Oddly so was I. Never was allowed to buy it either. Hmm, maybe I'll go buy some...just because.

My parents did NOT tolerate drunkenness even to the point that if a friend got tipsy, they were generally not invited back.

When I got to high school and college, drinking was no big deal. In general, I rarely drank in college and only occasionally drink today.

Of the handful of friends who have had drinking problems, nearly all of them come from families where drinking was verboten

LOL My parents restricted our diet, but we always got a sip of beer or wine. I'm not sure if it was good or bad, but at least now we're "functioning" alcoholics.

Yeah, no butter here, either. LOL did you live through the margarine craze, too? Do you remember "oat bran?"

I also run the other way when I see skimmed milk! I don't eat a lot of butter, since my parent's were pretty much right about animal fats, but I will choose butter over margarine any day.

I wasn't allowed to drink straight from the can of Hershey's chocolate syrup that was always in the fridge but man was nobody was near the fridge I'd be in there with that thing tipped at a 45 degree angle... glug... glug... glug...glug...

I got busted a couple times due to telltale chocolate on my face though, and my covert foray into the world of baker's chocolate and vanilla extract from the spice rack only happened once for obvious reasons.
