How about good sauerkraut seasoned with caroway seed?

(although the plethora of German Potato Salad recipes has me ravenous right now)

If you have German potato salad, you have to have kraut!
Funny thing, DH is a Marine, and they used to have some kind of really dreadful kind of caraway cheese in C rations, he cant stand even thinking about caraway seed. A chef friend of mine suggested using fennel seed, it has worked out quite well, been doing that for over a decade.

Just made real German Potato Salad (G.P.S) redwine viniger mixed with bacon fat, wooooweee, it made the meal .

This may be considered sacrilege, but I like sausages with a side of rice-a-riso (or whatever you call that here - you know - the fake rice in a packet stuff)
