I always took either leftovers or a Frozen Lean Cuisine. They aren't fabulous, but some of them aren't bad, assuming there's a freezer at work? You can even bring 4 on Monday, and then you're done thinking about it for the rest of the week.
Usually it is leftovers. However, if I there aren't any leftovers, a sandwich with the vegetables in a separate container to be added. Nothing worse than a soggy sandwich.
When I go for my Vol. work, I pack a turkey sandwich with a slice of swiss cheese on a sandwich thin, a bag of carrot sticks, a protein bar, and a piece of fruit. I make sure I can store it in a fridge since I like mayo on my sammies, and bottled water to drink.
Sandwiches
Soup
Hotdogs (in a thermos)
salads
meals - lasagna, meatloaf, etc
I pack hubbys and our sons lunches. They get a main course and 2 sides plus pop for hub and thermos drink for son. They get a cloth napkin, reusable spoon/fork and tupperware to put it all in.
Tomorrow my hubby will get: Wrap, grapes, cookies, broccoli, tea and then he will get poptart for breakfast
Seems like an embarrassing topic to start ... but here is goes anyway.
For years, I've been eating lunch out while at work. Its a social thing, a few colleagues and I eat out and chat.
We have all decided to start bringing our lunches to work. Its not really a health issue - we usually eat healthy when out. Its also not a financial issue .... Well, i guess i shouldn't say that. We agreed to cut out eating out from 4-5 days a week to Fridays only. It just seems like its just an unnecessary expense.
Now the problem is - i haven't packed a lunch since high school! What are some good items to take? I have access to a fridge at work, so I'm sure i've got a lot of options.
I used to pack a sandwich, but I kept the tomato, lettuce and pickle in a separate container so the bread wouldn't get soggy. Some carrot and celery sticks, a piece of fruit and a cookie.
I'll almost jealous of you -- nowadays they have soft side lunch boxes that you put into the freezer and they freeze! No leaky blue ice or freezing a bottle of water to keep the lunch cold.
If you have a microwave at work, you can also pack up leftovers and take them in, too.
I take leftovers into work and microwave it as well
