I don't know if it is just Me? When I go to a restaurant , the salad comes before the meal . The server then takes away the salad when the main course is put down . When I eat at home , I always eat the salad along with the main course , sometimes even finishing the salad towards the end . . Am I in the minority , or do others do like Me ?

Yeah, and somehow I got into this habit. I actually prefer the salad last.
It's just sort of refreshing and light. At home, I eat salad every single night.
I don't go to fancypants restaurants often, but in regular restaurants, if it is at all possible, I will ask to keep the salad along with the entree. I don't ask to have it last, though.

DH prefers his salad after his main meal. I prefer it before to help fill me up......and yet I am the one who struggles with weight.....go figure!

I can eat it with my meal if served it, but I much prefer it before the meal.

Dawn

I like the salad first. I might bite or at least growl at a server who takes away my salad before I'm done LOL sorry, bad humor of mine Okay, I'd be nice and say, "I'm not finished with my salad yet."

Salad used to be served last! If you look at dinner party convention and restaurant service prior to the 70s, salad would always be the course following the entree. In the 70s when nouvelle cuisine, and its tiny portions, became popular, salad was served before the entree to help fill the stomach since roughage takes longer to digest. With salad first, you feel fuller faster and, therefore, not so gypped by the tiny entrees. Now entree sizes are becoming gigantic reversing the trend.

When I go to better restaurants now, I ask for the salad after the entree or, at least, set aside the salad until after I'm done with the entree. I think it's better for you. The roughage helps to push the rest of the meal through the system faster and I don't feel so bloated by the end of the meal.

My husband's family eats the salad last. They had a salad every night. They also had 4 kids, so by the time they got to the table they would eat the main course first or it would go cold. He still eats that way. I eat my salad with the main course.

I like my salad with my meal. I take my time and if there is unlimited salad I will eat it and take the rest of my meal with me. Two meals for one. Unless I am at a really fancy restaurant. Then I can nibble on both.
