Well the CCBW has spoken and it is roast beef, mashed taters, and fried okra. I think a slice or two of fresh Carolina tomato will find a home on my plate too.

So, what could be saved (very little) will be cooked today and we will have lots of choices, smaked turkey, ribs, a roast, you name it. Everything else is gone, including all my home made beef stock, veggie stock and chicken stock, all my New Mexico chilies, my split pea soup and God knows what else.

So, now you can see we will have quite a choice for dinner.

Ouch I feel your pain- when the last freezer before this one died we had hubs family come and get what could be saved (he comes from a family with 7 sibs and most live nearby) and they still tease me about being ready for the zombie apocalypse. I stockpile, but not like those extreme couponers, not a ton of processed, but when meats etc are marked down or Kroger has 68 cent frozen veggies I cram that freezer. Enjoy your feast for the next few days.

It's been too hot so we've been doing whatever- and Friday night was the Phineas and Ferb movie so we let the grandson pick out the "feast" - corn dogs, Cheetos, baby carrots, melon, apples, grapes, ring pops, peanut butter M&M's and Red Vines. Root beer floats (mine was made with cream soda, not a root beer fan). An excellent time was had by all- must remember to let the 4yo choose the food and entertainment more often.

Last night was rare roast beef sandwiches- it's insane what I will pay for good deli because I'd rather go broke than heat up the house- more than 3x what I spend on a roast per pound but it was delicious. I had horseradish, mayo, mustard, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, sprouts & havarti on a hoagie roll.

I was hoping if I read through the posts something would strike me but so far not so much. Maybe lo mein and oriental style wings but only if one of us gets ambitious.

Fried chicken and potato salad. The potato salad is already made and the chicken is soaking in buttermilk/spices. I will fry up the chicken for the menfolk, but I don't plan on eating any myself. I think I will skip dinner tonight.

We smoked the turkey, ribs and a chicken yesterday and tonight we are having the filets we were able to save, plus corn, salad and squash on the grill.
