Default The Great Pumpkin Pie Debate

my roommate and I have been debating this for days: is pumpkin pie best served hot/warm or room temp/cool? with or without ice cream? I insist that it's best at room temp, my roommate think it's best right out of the oven. I also love it a la mode, and she thinks that a la mode is only best for apple and cherry pies. so it take this question to the forum: what's the best way to serve pumpkin pie?

ETA: I completely forgot about whipped cream! I can't change the poll options now, so just interchange "ice cream" w/ whipped cream if you prefer the latter

My official answer...

Pumpkin pie is best served room temp or cool with plenty of reddi-whip or real whipped cream (not cool whip or ice cream).

You better add whipped cream to that poll - I'm willing to bet most people will think of whipped cream not ice cream for pumpkin pie.

Ice cream and pumpkin pie? Never heard of it. I like whipped cream with mine and cold. Never had fresh warm pumpkin pie before, just the store bought stuff

My kids love pumpkin pie, and will eat it for breakfast. I am like, why not...it is probably good for them. I don't like pumpkin pie, so, I wonder if those kids are really mine...yes, they are...go figure it. They love it hot, cold, and I can barely get it out of the box before the whole thing is devored. They don't even wait long enough for whipped cream. When I buy pie, I always have to buy 2, one for them to eat, one for the dinner. Otherwise, there would not be any! Even the dog loves pumpking pie...but he loves everything.

Yeah, can't say I have ever heard of ice cream on pumpkin pie (yuck). So, I will state that I prefer it cold/room temp with whipped cream. I can't imagine enjoying "warm" pumpkin pie due to the texture, but that's just me!
