Mmmmm! (Although drizzling olive oil on avocado seems like you're bringing coals to Newcastle...)

Picked up a Hass and a variety called slimcado. The hass is ripe but the other isn't. Will report on it when it's ready.

I just grew up with that flavor combo. I can't have avocado without EVOO.

My mssion now is to find a recipe, or just experiment on my own, with an Avocado Dessert. I just read that in other countries (Brazil, Indonesia, Vietnam, southern India) avocados are used in milkshakes, added to ice cream and other desserts made with sugar, milk or water, and pureed avocado. Chocolate syrup is sometimes added, also. This sounds like it could be pretty good - at least worth a try anyway. Has anyone ever had one of these avocado desserts/milkshakes?
Google Avocado Pie. There are lots of versions out there. All we have here are the Hass variety, & the smaller ones are often 3 for a dollar. It seems like they used to be much more expensive a long time ago--I think we're just getting more imported in from Mexico (5 miles away).

Using it as a mayo substitute is brilliant. What I've been doing lately is mixing crema with guacamole to extend both. The avocado doesn't brown this way and you get the full flavor of it without having to overdo the citrus. In a squirt bottle it's easy to dress the tacos and enchiladas. This also works to "fix" the watery varieties.

I grew up making avocado shakes. We had a tree in the backyard. I love avocado but I'd as soon not sweeten it.

Oh, my!!! I am making one of those pies for sure! I'll bet even non-avocado eaters would dig this!! I have a few in my family, if you can believe that. It would be fun to serve it and not tell them what it is - let them think it's key-lime because of the color.

Will it bug you that I get my Hass here for .69 each? The Slimcado was $1.49. (normally I pay $1.50 for Hass but this store is cheap for them if I make it out to there)
