Oh yeah, I forgot...I add onions to mine, too. But haven't tried the peppers yet. Sound great! And it never occured to me to turn the foil pack over. Good tip.

Potato salad (I actually like the mashed kind better than the cubes...and it has to have mustard in it) and baked beans.

Grilled homegrown tomatoes with fresh parmesan, different fresh fruit or vegetable salsas, big green salad with lots of summer vegetables, grilled corn on the cob with a chili lime compound butter, baked sweet potato fries with spicey barbecue sauce, corn pudding, coleslaw (vinegar based not mayo based), grilled asparagus with fresh lemon juice

Kansas City is known for its BBQ...more smoked meats, burnt ends of brisket, sausages, ribs, etc. than pulled pork, but you can get pulled pork, as well, many places. It's not quintessential KC BBQ, though. Common sides at our BBQ joints, here are beans (usually baked, hunks of meat in them for flavor), fries (often seasoned), cole slaw some places, dill pickle slices. Jack Stack, the "upscale" of the barbecue places, is known for its sides like its cheesy corn bake, which is wonderful. Oklahoma Joe's, another popular restaurant, serves a great side of red beans and rice.
