It's not for everyone. For some reason most people automatically think everyone's digestion is the same. Turns out it's not.

My contention wasn't that french fries were not carbs...but that there are more healthy carb alternatives than switching form fries to onion rings.

thank you for your info...I'm sorry my post confused you.

Please take everyone's "sugestions" with the understanding...no one knows your life style. Posters are relaying what we/they have done to help us/them lose weight.

The simple fact is if you don't do anything...you will have no results.

good luck.

Protein makes you feel full and two of the best ways of getting it without a lot of calories and/or fat and carbs is K2O water (20 calories and 5 grams of protein) and EAS Lite protein drinks (110 calories and 17 grams of protein). The liquid part also works wonders for making you full. If you want something solid, beef jerky is a great way of getting protein and entire bags are usually under 250 calories with around 45 grams of protein.

Was talking with someone recently about what makes people feel full. People seem to need different things and/or different proportions.

Uh, yeah, that would be the Blood Type diet that many online dismiss as unscientific. To understand the big diet fads, you need to have done your homework the last 15 years. I have--- Dukan is the perfect approach for all blood groups. Past 35 it is impossible to lose weight without a drastic reduction in carbohydrates. Dukan provides a real world approach & a way to ensure the weight is not regained. It's the best approach I've ever read about, based for once on actual common sense.

I am 38 and I lost 18 pounds in 2 months WITHOUT drastically reducing the carbs. I certainly kept my fruits with a vengeance, as well as my whole grains, etc. I even had days of "serious cheat" as this happened over the Holidays when it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep it all straight.

Of course, I didn't make the carbs the MAIN source of calories but still used them quite a bit.

Truth be told though my weight loss has stalled after these 18 pounds.
Today I am on my first day of a slightly adapted Dukan diet (which I will only do once a week and not more often anyway). And I HATE IT.

The idea of having nothing but protein is downright disgusting. I am having just protein and non-starchy vegetables today and it's still outrageous.
I would never do the STRICTLY PROTEIN days as I would probably vomit constantly and get so constipated, it would not be worth all the weight loss in the world.

But I am curious to see whether the scale with finally budge tomorrow.

Keep in mind that a low carb diet takes about 3 days for you to get the carbs out of your system. THere are a lot of ways you can make it interesting. It's tough for me because I'm not a big meat eater...

Today I had cabbage soup with shredded chicken, cottage cheese, celery, zuccini, only 2 carrots, diced stewed tomatoes, and hot sauce. It was sooo good. Yes the carrots and diced tomatoes are pushing it but I have moved my carb level up a bit to 50 carbs per day. I was on 20 carbs per day for two weeks and that was tough!

My Dad lost 50 lbs over 3 months eating low carb.
