Do you buy veg/fruit from out of the U.S.? (organic, avocado)

I have found that the fruit from Chile is somewhat better than it used to be: i.e. the grapes are sweeter, but the peaches/necterines/etc are or must be picked so green that they ripen and they the sugar's turn the fruit black.

Also, the strawberries from Mexico are not as sweet and are more tougher then the ones say from Ca. or florida?

So, I just wait for the good stuff.

Living in Australia, I don't have much choice. Having said that, out of season fruit (e.g. grapes, cherries), is sometimes from the U.S. Don't know about the nutritional value, but it tastes ok.

I buy avocados from Mexico, on occasion. Nothing else comes to mind, fresh produce-wise.

I buy banana's, strawberries and grapes all the time. Sometimes the berries aren't great, but I bought some last week from Mexico and they were wonderful. Also, I use avocados all the time. I don't really care where they come from, I just enjoy them in salads, burritos, on sandwiches, whatever.

I live in Northern New England and would LOVE to be able to get a good avacado.

I'm always disappointed when winter comes and the market has to get the sweet onions from Peru. The very best sweet onions that you can buy down here in Florida come from Georgia.
I try not to buy any produce from outside of the U.S.A.. I guess I can say that about all the stuff I buy at the market, with some exceptions - such as New Zealand lamb.

I prefer supporting my local farms, although, it's somewhat attainable being in the New England area.

Probably - but Hawaii grows bananas that are available there and mainland usa.

I buy all sorts of produce that was grown outside the US

I try to buy mostly USA-grown organic produce, with the exception of avocados, pineapple, and bananas which for some reason I rarely am able to find ones that are grown in the US.
