Candy eggs?
Can anyone remember a type of candy that used to be sold all the time at Easter? When I was growing up in the 70's and 80's and early 90's it seemed like I saw it every year.
They were shaped kind of like eggs, but not quite as big. The outside was a semi hard shell (kind of like the shell of a jelly bean) in various colors: yellow, red, orange, purple, green. Each color was a fruit flavor. Inside was a sweet white substance, sort of like the texture of those orange circus peanuts. Except white.
Do they still sell this candy? Does anyone know the name? Thanks.

Another thing I remember: it seems like they were individually wrapped in clear plastic. Not the kind of plastic that is twisted together at the ends, but the kind you have to tear open. So I guess maybe the candy shell must have melted in your hands a little bit.

Long ago, you could get them either individually wrapped, or just loose in a bag. I think most people preferred the individually wrapped kind for hiding for Easter egg hunts. That's what my mom always bought for us, and what we bought for our kids when they were young. We finally quit buying them because a). no one liked it b). we really didn't want the kids to have that much sugar. We always had a few chocolate eggs, but for hiding purposes, we started using just the hard plastic things and putting in little cheap trinkets or usually just loose change. My kids always like money more than candy anyway.

UUUGGGHHH!!!
I finally found the name of them: "Marshmallow Eggs". I bought a bag in the candy bargain bin today just to see what they were like. I couldn't eat half of one and threw the rest out. (Sickeningly sweet!!)
I hope I haven't harmed my blood sugar level from that one bite.
Sorry, I cannot post images here but this is a link to a picture.
