Best/worst fast food restaraunts?
McDonald's seems to be one that either you love or you hate, with little neutral ground. In the Western US, In-And-Out Burger is a favorite with Wendy's doing OK also. Opinions?

Roy Rogers
Roy Rogers was once a Marriott brand, but they spun it off years ago and most of them became Hardee's (I think) or they closed.
There are a handful of them north & west of DC in MD & VA (Leesburg, VA, and Brunswick & Frederick, MD) and a few others.
The "Double R Bar Burger" is the best fast food burger you'll get. Real meat, not that mystery stuff at other places. They top it with some deli-style finely sliced ham, the flavor is amazing. One is enough for most people. Best with a sliver of raw onion on it.
If you ever get in that area, try one.

The only good food at McDonalds is the fries. That's it. Even my kids don't ask to go there.
My FAVORITE!!! Chick-Fil-A. And some of the best Sweet Tea.

They're ALL bad for you!!! I don't eat that crap and you shouldn't either! It clogs your arteries, raises your cholestrol and makes you fat. And God knows what's really in that stuff!!! And yes, I am a health and fitness fanatic.

They're all really nasty if you think about them, but it's best not to think about them and just dig in when you need a fix. For what we have on the East Coast, here's the rankings (I hear that In & Out and Del Taco are very, very good out west).
Taco Bell (almost everything is good)
Chick Fil-A (love the chick sandwich, fries, and Icedream)
Wendy's (SPICY chick sandwich, pretty good taco salad)
Arby's (can't go wrong with curly fries and roast beef)
Carl's Jr. (ex-Hardees, good specialty burgers)
Popeye's (biscuits and sides)
Burger King (Whopper is pretty good)
KFC (everything sucks except the chicken bowl)
McDonald's (worst employees and food, fries and pies rock though)

I am not a fan of fast food at all. Even my kids don't ask to go to fast food joints and will most likely get upset if we only have time for something "fast food". I try to eliminate any need for having to do fast food. The only one we do like is Chick-Fil-A, they are so much better than anyone else. The only good thing going for some of them are their drinks. Like Sonic, love their drinks (Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper ) but their food is THE PITS and it stinks up the car something bad. Their ice is "IT" (fyi, you can buy Sonic ice from them in bags).
Del Taco, yes those are still in California. We used to have them here in the Dallas area but that was over 20 years ago. I don't remember anything special about them.
In n Out Burger. They do have good fries. Now get them to Texas .

Every now and then I get stuck with no other place to eat but a fast food joint. I usually travel with my mini schnauzer and the last time I stopped at a McDonald's I gave my dog a few french fries which he seemed to love but he refused to the the meat from the hamburger. If my dog won't eat McDonald's hamburger it makes me wonder what the stuff is really is.
However, my last trip I awoke very early and found no resturants opened. I drove around until I can accross a Hardee's at 5:30AM and with nothing else I opened I tried it. I was amazed, good coffee, and the breakfast food was fairly tasty for a very reasonable price. I did stop by later, around 10AM and the coffee was old and bitter. IMO, Hardee's is a good choice if no resturants are available, but keep it early.

Schlotzky's is really good but they've closed a lot of stores since they declared bankruptcy, including the one nearest to me.
