All my life I ate sweets in modesty. As a child I actually did not enjoy sweets unless it was tangy. I remember when I did have a sweet dessert I always asked mother if I can have some cheese or smoked ham after. Now I love baking for others and I do enjoy my German cakes but I am able to control the amount of sugar I am adding.

Sweet eaten with salty - it's surely influenced by one's cultural upbringing.

I grew up eating watermelon, pineapple, and other sweet fruits, sprinkled with salt and chili powder.

Sour mango slices dipped in sugary fish sauce. I completely understand the Italian pairing of prosciutto slices with ripe cantaloupe slices. Sweet+salty+umami

I'm not much of a sweets type, never was even as a child...
I do find a good appreciation of a much darker chocolate now though, just not often..

I did go through a stage of eating a lot of ice cream after quitting the bottle.
My AA friends assured me that this was quite the norm,(craving sugar) this however resulted in my gaining ALOT of weight..

I still have ice cream about once a week and I'm slowly losing the 80 pounds I put on..

Default Anyone lose their sweet tooth over time?

I used to have to eat sweets everyday and if it wasn't chocolate, I wasn't interested. The past few years, I find everything too sweet or the chocolate flavor is barely there. I can't stand any popular candy anymore like reeses, snickers, etc.
I understand that you change but ice cream was one of my main meals and now a pint sits in the freezer for months.

For several decades, I haven't liked the sweet taste of anything to linger long in my mouth for too long after consumption, I have to cleanse it with either something sour, hot, salty, or even unseasoned cooked meat.

I used to love ripened bananas, the browner the better.
Now, anything resembling brown spots is way too sweet.

I am more picky, compared to when I was young, in what I like as far as sweets go.

To me texture and quality are very important in determining how much I like a food......and that goes doubly-so for sweets.

Oh my God. Have you seen a doctor? That's not normal.

With the exception of fruits, I prefer salty over sweet now...although I still enjoy dessert every once in a while.
