Geeze, lots of weeks I only spend about $30, but after our freezer dissaster I spent a little more today (like 4 times) of course when I say I only spend $30, remember we also do Aldis and Sams on a regular basis as well as a Farmers Market here and there plus I still have my garden (it is about to be history for this year)

Thank-goodness we are still pretty lucky in NWA that we can afford to buy enough to survive on for a week for $30.
If you only had $30, what kind of food items would you buy so that you could make as many nutritious, hunger-satisfying meals as possible? Let's assume you already have the staples in your pantry at home...flour, sugar, oil, spices, etc. How would you stretch your dollars so that you were able to get the biggest bang for your buck?
Feel free to post recipes, too.
a no-fail that's cheap, filling, tastes good, & is good for you:
Make your favorite pasta on stove top (spaghetti & sauce, macaroni & cheese, etc.)
Mix in: 3 eggs, a can of "cream of-" soup (mushroom or whatever), & you can also add a can of chunked chicken or tuna if you want.
Put half of this mixture in a baking dish or pan.
Add sliced tomatoes & sliced onions.
Put the remaining mixture on top.
Bake for approx. 45 minutes (depending on size of pan).
I like to add sliced or grated avocado on top when it's finished.
Ramen, 12 packs, apples, bread, cheese, bolonga, PB&J, coffee, milk. Cheapest of everything at Wal Mart today. Has to last for next week and a half.
Make sure you add a few veggies to that list..Sometimes Wal-Mart isn't the cheapest on produce (or at least here that is true)
