Ive heard that sugar can be bad for a person but in what amounts does it become bad? May depend upon the person of course.

The recommended sugar intake for adult women is 5 teaspoons (20 grams) of sugar per day, for adult men, it’s 9 teaspoons (36 grams) daily, and for children, it's 3 teaspoons (12 grams) a day.

Right now an average American ( woman/man/child ) consumes over 22 spoons of sugar a day.

My Grandpa, bless his soul, lived to be 101, drank coffee with so much sugar in it, your spoon could stand up in it. At his favorite cafe, they just brought out a bowl of sugar with his coffee, because he would open about 20 packs of sugar for his coffee. He ate a bowl of oatmeal every morning for breakfast, with about a 1/2 cup of brown sugar on top. He was not fat, or diabetic. Just loved sugar.

We should all live to be that age, as healthy as he was...his "secret", was...never stop working...he worked every day, even after he retired, as a volunteer, in his yard, at his church...

It wasn't the sugar. . . Poor guy worked himself to death.

My dad smoked a pack of Camels a day until he was 60, then quit and just smoked a pipe all day. Died at home in his sleep at 93. My mother was exposed to all that second-hand smoke, and died at home in her sleep at 98. But that's not a ringing endorsement for smoking.
