KC Steak, the mail order company? I am thinking of buying some USDA Prime filet's for Christmas and I am wondering if it would be a good idea? Are they worth the extra coin?
I would also try and find a really good butcher in your area for the same quality of steak you get from KCSteak, much cheaper plus the money stays local.
I have been buying Lobels for the last ten years and it is the best meat I have ever consumed for the price.
It can be a bit of sticker shock though. I dropped $200+ for my wedding anniversary last year for four Porterhouse steaks.

I wouldn't pay the money those types of places ask for. You'd be better off going to a grocery store in an upscale neighborhood or a butcher's shop. I live in Kansas City, a metro of over 2 million, and it's hard to find grocery stores with prime-grade beef, but they're out there. Luckily, one is very near my house. But it is my understanding filet mignon cannot be "prime grade", that it just doesn't exist. It was explained to me that the grading has to do with fat content and how well that fat is distributed (marbling) and that filet mignon doesn't fit into the category of "prime" because of how lean they are. With filet, it's hard to go wrong though, provided you don't buy into imitation pre-packaged crap like you'll see at Walmart. It's more about how you cook the filets. Grilling is best. Over high heat on a pre-heated grill. Turning only once. Medium rare. And if using a sauce, red wine sauce (which is easy to make and awesome) or something like bearnaise (which I haven't had).
We did have a local butcher, but it went under because people love to buy cheap s--t met from Walmart. Now I have nowhere to buy "decent" meat. This is rural KY. Not many choices.
for that kind of money, they should have come with an iron chef to fix it for you..............
I wouldn't let those idiots touch my $50.00+ Porters. They might try to cut it up and stuff it in an ice cream machine for some ridiculous steak tartar gelato inspired dish. That show really is rediculous.
Have you ever eaten at a World Class steak house? I'm guessing not.
