Wow. When I read the first post of this thread, my thought was "What a whacko. OCD for sure."

Obviously, I'm the ignorant one here.

I started carrying my own when we lived in Japan. I can and do eat with chopsticks - but my husband can't due to a wrist injury/surgeries. So we started bringing our own utensils- easier than getting the waitstaff to hunt down western silverware for us. FWIW, the Japanese often bring their own chopsticks with them...

Once I had my daughter, I started carrying toddler flatware for her. I always carry a flatware knife witha bit of a serrated edge so if we stopped somewhere and got something I could cut it up for her.

Plastic stuff is miserable for eating with IMO. We don't even use it when we entertain big parties - I have a couple extra sets of flatware.

Over the past year, I've felt like bringing my own flatware when I eat at Whole Foods. Theirs is so mushy and soft now, the knives don't cut. Instead, I've just ended up not eating there as much.

I really wonder though IS THAT THE RIGHT APPROACH??

I think we need to STAND UP and say when something ISNT GOOD and TRY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!

This local restaurant a few months ago changed thier mac and cheese (They wanted to make it CHEAPER for themselves to make) -- IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!! -- No flavour just about!!!

Would it have been wise of me to just STOP EATING THERE?? -- No not at all...... I was QUITE LOUD and told them it was BLAND with haridly any flavour,etc...... WHY DID THEY CHANGE IT??

I didnt get any response from my email and I was just gonna give up.... I WENT IN ONE DAY AND THE LADY HAD REPLEID TO EMAIL THAT MORNING!!! (I didnt read it yet)

THEY CHANGED IT BACK!!!!!!!!! -- Or they made it MUCH BETTER!!!!! -- Its delicious again..... If I had just STOPPED GOING THERE,nothing would have been done!!

IT PAYS TO HAVE YOUR OWN MIND AND STAND UP!! -- TRY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

My WF has flatware available for those folks who don't want to use disposable (they also have real plates at the hot food and salad bars). Maybe you can suggest the same at your WF?

I have complained three times on those write-in sheets that they post on the bulletin boards, but there has been no change. I didn't realize they had real flatware. I will ask next time. Thanks.

I bought some bamboo utensils a few years ago that come in a handy dandy little pouch. they are pretty awesome. I'm thinking I could get a few more sets and put them in places where I need them.

LOL me too. I do give my husband a fork and spoon for his lunch because he brings lunch everyday and does not go out and their isn't access to plastic utensils. In fact he hates plastic utensils.
