I love being able to buy farm fresh local eggs, meat etc at my very nearby European mkt. Even though they are only there - in the local greenhouse - on Saturdays from 8:30 - 12:30 it is great to have an option to the regular grocery store. Today I purchased the fresh eggs, a lb of ground sirloin that is raised right here in my state, and also a lovely fresh greens swag with cones and a gorgeous red bow. It smells wonderful so I know it will last the season.
I'm just wondering how much those free-range natural eggs cost you though? I've seen them as high as $5/dozen here at local farmers markets in SoCal. One legitimate criticism of farm-fresh products is their extremely high cost, which turns them into a status symbol of sorts.
Yes, I'm very envious of the markets that they have in Europe. They are more common and more accessible. The quality of food in Europe overall tends to be higher quality than what you can get over here.
