Default Your winter food treat

Where are you from and what is your cultural or regional cold weather meal?

I’m from south Louisiana. In our house the main winter food is chicken and sausage gumbo. An alternative is chili with beans. To go with the chili we either have Fritos or baked cornbread. We make our chili with beans to stretch the meat and to add more fiber and nutrients to the meal.

Nothing to do with regional, cultural or familial connections or recollections, but for me, it's chowders. ALL kinds of chowders. And I do make them frequently in the winter. Usually laced with poblabos chile.

A lot of soups and homemade baked goods. And hot tea, cider, chocolate, and coffee.

Not limited to winter but eaten more often then:

Hot soups, stews, tea—hot liquids warm me up amazingly fast
Homemade breads
Baked potatoes and yams, baked things in general

There’s an obvious thermal connection here! I should make some casseroles soon.
