I used to fry with bacon grease with my eggs but now I use coconut oil and the results are similar except for taste. Coconut oil is great for health reasons and it has a high smoke point.
I will fry up bacon for wilted lettuce salad, which I love, and simply use the fresh drippings for the salad. How much grease would you need for that? I never save the stuff.
My mother kept a grease jar by the stove, and honestly, I found it revolting. There are a million other healthy ways to add flavor to food.
I save my bacon grease. I put it in a container in the fridge. I have to get to the pan before hubby, because he will toss it. It is a great starter for soups, & winter is coming. I would not buy it, it is too easy & cheap to save at home, I love bacon a few times a year.
