We have a gas stove/oven that runs on propane. I can't cook for anything on/in and electric stove/oven.
I do have a small toaster oven to use in the summer when it is beyond too hot turn on the oven, but use it sparingly as it cooks completely different than my gas oven
If you're gonna use a stove use gas if available. Stay away from electronic ignition types. Natural gas is as safe as electric maybe more so. If you are using LP or propane ....Electric is far safer choice.
I disagree however I've used both natural gas and propane for years and honestly never got the hang of cooking on an electric stove. Currently using propane and happy to have my flames.

I have always had propane ...never had any issues and I've been cooking around 21 years. We have a 1000 gallon propane tank outside that is filled and checked by the propane company on fill up, so not sure what is unsafe about it.

My statement is relating to the "Fact" that natural gas is much safer in general than LP or propane. Natural gas is lighter than air and disperses well in the environment. LP and propane is heavier than air and collects in low areas. For this reason it is far more of an explosion/fire risk than natural gas.
This is why I would likely choose electric over gas only if LP/propane was all that was available. This is not to say that a well kept and regularly inspected LP or propane service can't be relatively safe. Actually, I might still stick to gas knowing what I know. Mainly because i do know and am aware of the dangers. I have lived the farm life and been on LP with 2 or 3 !,000 gallon and a couple 500 gallon tanks around. Most rural areas are on LP and most are very safe as long as maintenance is good. Not trying to alarm any users. Awareness is your friend.
