LAS VEGAS — Laughing tourists were either cynical or confused about whether a man was really suffering a medical episode amid the "doctor," "nurses" and health warnings at the Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas, a restaurant owner said Wednesday.
"It was no joke," said Jon Basso, who promotes himself "Doctor Jon," his scantily-clad waitresses as nurses and customers as patients.
A friend wanted to visit the new Heart Attack Grill in Dallas, so I tagged along with him. I didn't order anything, but I did eat half his fries. As this was part of the store's grand opening, they had visiting "nurses" working the counter. I shot photos of them:
[The restaurant owner] said he hopes the man is OK, and added that he felt bad for him because tourists treated his misfortune like a joke. "We would never pull a stunt like that," he said.
Uhhh ... the entire restaurant is built upon the joke that their food might kill you. Quadruple bypass burgers. Flatliner fries. The sign on the door: "Cash only - Because you might die before the check clears." Har har! But when somebody actually has a heart attack, they're all sympathy? I don't buy it.

A modern day manifestation of the "boy who cried wolf"?
Actually it was their spokesperson who died of a heart attack, he weighed something like 450 pounds. The owner/creator is still alive and well and bringing in the bucks from these highly successful restaurants.
