About the only one we have around here is a chain that has been around for years, even though I don't think it's very good, and certainly not very authentic German...
It's called (keep scrolling)...
Der Weinershnitzel! LOL!

I can't believe they're still open. Morbid, but I've been there for several funeral luncheons. Queens is the land of cemeteries.

Just took a day trip to Wisconsin recently. It was enough to remind me that it may be the one place where German-ness remains such a huge part of the cultural identity that the old-school German joints (and lots of little breweries, many of which make fantastic German-style beer) will be around for at least one more generation, maybe two. I even caught some polka/oohm-pa music on the radio once I got a little north of Milwaukee. God bless Wisconsin.

If you do make it there, know that its German-ness is concentrated on the central & eastern half of the state in general and around Milwaukee in particular. The western half tends a little more toward the Scandinavian part of Wisconsin's heritage.
