I can name a little town in west Texas that has had one for decades, too.

East coast snobbery...love it.

I moved to this country in the 1980s and have never lived in a town that didn't have an Indian restaurant or two.

Lots of people are actually quite ignorant about Indian food.

As for all my friends, it was their first time trying it.

My aunt doesn't even know what "curry" is.

"Trendy" ethnic food seems to only really appeal to the middle- and upper-middle-class around here. The rest are content with orange chicken from the Chinese take-out and fettucine alfredo from Olive Garden.

Also, there are very few Indian restaurants in Mexico and many other countries.
