I'd make some other fillings, such as tuna, egg, etc...

On a big table, I'd lay out all the different breads, the deli fillings on a platter, and each tuna, egg, whatever filling in its own bowl... and let them make the sandwiches themselves.

That way, whatever doesn't get eaten, you can package up and put in the fridge to use later. If they're already made, you'd likely toss the leftovers.
That is the best idea so far. I had thought something similar, let them assemble the sandwhiches, have the veggie plates and some fruit plus chips and maybe cookies. Even our bridge group has started doing this at our Wed bridge. We meet in one of our local rec centers, the hostess for the day, brings a couple of sandwhich mixes, a couple of kinds of bread (usually smaller pieces or rolls) a few chips of some kind and maybe a light finger dessert. The table is set up and the food left out for an hour or so. What is eaten (the spreads that is) are put in the fridge and taken home. It works great, no wasted food and everyone can do his/her own thing.

That's my family. My son hates sandwiches. Hubby is a vegetarian. Going to someone's house for a party is not so easy. I usually have to bring something for them.
Really? They can't find SOMETHING to eat??? YOU have to BRING something to someone else's house? My husband has to be gluten-free, for MEDICAL reasons, and can usually get by. Eat before you leave if nothing else.

Why Walmart? Don't you have a grocery store where people actually give a s**t? I do not think you must make everything yourself, but use some discernment in your choices.
If you are honoring someone with a party, then stir some love in it.

Bam,

Let us know what you are ending up doing and congrats to the grad. I am sure you can combine pre made and purchased with homemade and have a wonderful party...
