What's the last thing you made that didn't turn out good?

What went wrong, and what did you do with it?

A few weeks ago, I made a batch of cookies, and forgot to put sugar in the batter. After spooning them onto the sheet, I licked the spoon and discovered my error. So I sprinkles a bit of sugar onto each one, and pressed it in with a fork. They were OK, but it's not something I'd do every time.

Bolognese sauce with ground turkey rather than ground beef. It was beyond horrible, but I made 10 quarts of the stuff so I ate every last drop because I refuse to waste food.

Grilled winter squash. I put on both butternut and acorn. The grilling just dries out the "meat" and then browns/burns it. I ate it, but it sucked. I don't think the flesh type and composition lends itself well to grilling.

The next week I made squash again, but this time in the oven, covered, with some water in the bottom to keep humidity level up inside the cooking dish. It was ten times better.

Summer squash (yellow, zucchini) turn out much better on the grill and I do that all the time.

Mole sauce. The recipe I had called for 1 tablespoon iof chili powder. Now I can eat hot, but my chili powder must be extrordinarly spicy (it's from the Indian store) and the mole came out very spicy. I tried to compensate with some milk and a bit more cocoa, but then it became very watery. I ended up making a roux with flour and coconut oil and mixing that in to thicken it up a bit. The recipe itself was quite good, but next time I'll use very little chili powder.

Chocolate-Kahlua Trifle. The brownies soaked in Kahlua were not that great in the trifle. Maybe I didn't use enough Kahlua.

I was making a porch chop recipe a few years back,It called for burbon in the recipe but I did not have that. I thought sunstituting Jack Daniel's would be ok. Husband comes home and said it smelled great, tasted it and said it needed more Jack Daniel's. Guess what? We called out for Chinese food. We both refused to eat it and threw them out. I am a great cook but this recipe just wasn't the greatest. Even really good cooks have mishaps.

Baked brussel sprouts. I let them get too done. Even though I followed Dawn's recipe! A few of them got a little brown. I ate them anyway. Hubby didn't. He didn't even like the normal ones too much. I would make them again, he votes no.

I made meat pierogi two weekends ago, and being too lazy to make own dough, I used Chinese pot sticker wraps. The wraps were too thin, and the pierogi didn't taste too good.
Later on, I found another brand, that was thicker, and those were perfect

An eggplant casserole. The eggplant had a really strong bad taste that ruined the entire casserole.
