of course it has to be real whip cream, not the stuff that is passed off today as whipped cream...Right?

Mirman's Drug Store for a chocolate malt, Norwood Diner for after the movies at Manor Theatre, and a Geno's Giant (much better than a Big Mac) with a Coke.

Speaking of malted's, did they leave the metal shake maker with your full glass ? It would usually fill the glass almost full again so you got two for the price of one.
Also, when I asked for a malt, they knew the difference from a milk shake as evidenced by the little granules of malted on the side of the metal container - which meant that you got what you ordered.
Finally, the best malt I ever had was a chocolate one made with chocolate mint ice cream instead of the standard vanilla & chocolate syrup. WOW

When we had our malts they would leave the metal shake so we could re-fill. Being from Ca where so many of us hung out at Bob's Big boy I miessed not having malts. That is one thing they never made, but they did make milk shakes which I didn't care for; all they were was very cold, somewhat soft ice cream, in my opinion. Whether malts or milk shakes they shouldn't have to be eaten with a spoon.

In my town there was a place called 'The Ponderosa Drive In', it had a huge parking lot and it was part of the "loop" for teens to cruise back in the 70's and 80's. I remember they had little 39 cent burgers known as "party burgers", and they were the first restaurant around here to serve seasoned fries (kinda like Arby's).

Lots of fond memories there, but unfortunately it was demolished to make room for a Walgreens.

I can't remember if Bob's invented the "Hot Fudge Brownie Cake" for dessert - or if someone else did.

I absolutely do not remember. I do remember the lettuce wedges with thousand Island dressing. I don't where the dressing idea came from, but Bob's was the first time I had it. Still, it is one of my favorites, but I don't make it often.
