What are your favorite campfire foods?
What do you like to cook over a campfire? Last week I was camping with a group of friends, around 30 of us, and we had three large campfires for every meal.
We had a nice assorment of meals but after a few days ran out of new ideas. We are going camping again next month, so I am looking for some suggestions.

We made smores with York peppermint patties instead of Hershey bars and they were very good.

The fish you caught yourself.
In a cast iron skillet with bacon grease and corn meal on that open fire.
And a cold beer.
If there's something green to go with it... that's OK too.

As a foodie I like to eat well even when camping.
I bring lots of white wine for marinating the food; red and port for after
Prawns, squid, fish, homemade sausages, ribs and rib eye’s.
Assorted veg for stir frying.
Oh and potatoes wrapped in foil to throw in the coals. Gotta love those!
Tips-
Always bring a bag of hardwood charcoal as briquettes are terrible to BBQ with. Besides, placing a steak directly on top of the wood for about 30 sec is a huge flavor booster!
Never forget bacon.
Bring a cast iron skillet!

I would make Chili for one meal, then make Frito Pies with the leftover.
In case you don't know...
Take a small bag of Fritos, open the top of the bag and smash the Fritos.
Pour in a ladle of chili
Top with melted cheese
Stick in a plastic spoon

Potatoes baked in Ash
Freshly caught fish/rabbit ( the smokiness always adds to the flavour)
Bananas cooked in their skin with a little brown sugar or dark chocolate melted into it

S'mores are good, but dump cake in a dutch oven is even better!
