This Stockyards in nshville Tennessee is rated as one of the top ten steakhouses in the United States. They don't have the mentioned steaks on their menu. Keep in mind that this is the heartland of America which grows millions of pounds of prime beef. Kobe beef is not available at the majority of restaurants in the USA - available in the major metropolitan areas and I've had it but I find it too greasy tasting due to the intense marbling of the meat. I've had lots of aged Angus steaks. My dad was a farmer and raised Angus beef.

Even if this restaurant had these steaks on the menu a common person would not be able to afford them plus from others comments, the steaks they serve are not all that great.

When we used to go to Peter Lugers it would cost us at least $150-$200 and that's steak for 2, two shrimp cocktails, 1 side and dessert and no alcohol. Those days of pricy steak house meals ended January 2012. Money is tight but we hope by next year to be Back where we were and maybe treat ourselves. We used to go out like this once a month now it like once a year.

French Laundry for our 20th Anniversary.

*cough* approx $600 total.

The French Laundry

First time I took my wife there in 1988 when dating it was 30 bucks. Again that was pre-Keller.

I believe it was $150.00 plus tip. Two prime rib dinners, 2 shrimp cocktails, salads, breads and a bottle of good wine. It was for our 25th wedding aniversity back in 2008.

You're lucky that you made it out for under $1,000. After 18 courses and 5 hours I think I've blocked out what the exact amount was, but it wasn't pretty.

You got both the Chefs and Vegetable tasting menu if you had 18 courses. That would be 540 a person currently. We just had the 9 course chefs tasting menu.

Well this was back when the prices were 240 per person. We also only had one bottle of wine.

Now It's 270 per person.

Had a company dinner party there back in 2000 that went for about $10,000. Again right before the crash.

We were there about 10 years ago, but started with some champagne and then we paired all the courses, I'm sure half our bill was wine. I enjoyed it, but frankly I enjoyed the burger and beer we had the next night too.

You Pipped me to the post. "The French Laundry" was also my most expensive experience. I have had quite a few lunches and dinners at super expensive Micheling rated places but this still beat it. But I thought it was worth it as an "occasion" splashing. Fab surroundings, fabulous food and perfect service. I only wish I had gone there in the $30 era !
