If you rummage city threads where newcomers ask about an area, it's almost inevitable you will see something like "... and there's this cool little Thai place you should try out."

I dislike Thai food. I've tried it twice. I have no idea how it has become so mainstream. It seems more like it's a cool thing to do. And, no, it's not about it being Thai, because I find Mexican restaurants to have tasty food, provided the level of spiciness doesn't require a fire hydrant. Even the general scent of most Thai restaurants is offputting.

Any others who think Thai food just ISN'T that great?

LOVED it since my first time eating Thai food. There's no "deal." My faves are Thai, Chinese, Middle Eastern, and Mexican.

Maybe you just haven't had dishes that you've liked either time you tried Thai... or maybe the restaurant(s) wasn't a very good one.

I looooove Thai food.

Drunken noodes, pad see ew, red curry... yes, please!

I think it's pretty hard to judge all of Thai food on two dining experiences.... I love Thai food myself. I'e been lucky enough to travel to Thailand. And to live next door to some awesome neighbors whose family owned a restaurant; we were often given left-overs from the restaurant and invites to their family parties (YUM!)

I used to think I didn't like "Japanese food" because I didn't care for "raw fish" Thankfully - I got to travel and live in Japan and learn to appreciate their food as well

If you don't like it, you don't like it. Nothing wrong with that.

My brother has lived in Thailand for 30 years. On some of his visits home, we've gone to Thai restaurants. So far, I haven't particularly cared for anything I've tried.

I've loved Thai food almost my entire life. Thai food is highly underrated. Not all of it has to be spicy hot, tho.

I live off thai food! I don't see how anyone can't like it.
