Rice. I grew up in an Italian family where pasta was always the first course served at any meal, and I have just gotten sick of pasta (I still will never order pasta when eating out.) In the past year or so I can't get enough rice. It's so versatile.
we use a variety of starches: here is an example: this past week we have had potatoes, pasta, sweet potatoes, rice and couscous...oh, and we did have tortillas when I made breakfast tacos last Sunday..

I like to have variety. Come to think of it bread seems more like a lunchtime food. Rice, then pasta, then potatoes - indeed I enjoy potato curries with rice, but also like to try other stuff occasionally like tortillas or semolina. I think if I had to choose though I'd still go back to rice, its so satisfying and nothing beats rice with curry.

I agree about bread. We have toast a couple times a week, bagels, for breakfast sometimes, but rarely do we have bread at the dinner table..The exception is soup, maybe once every month we will have a sandwhich for dinner and once in awhile when we have company.
Pasta.
So many things you can do with pasta, and it's the easiest thing to cook! (IMO)
