Is it bananas and pears chopped up with mayo and shredded cheese? Nope, never heard of something like that.
I've seen pasta salads with fruit, marshmallows and mayo, didn't really care for that combo, so I don't think I would like bananas with mayo, but who knows.

Oh good Lord, that sounds awful to me lol.
Take the cheese and mayo out and replace it with cream cheese or sour cream (or some kind of sour cream dessert topping), then I'd eat it.

Mom fixed this pear salad all of the time. She was from the south.

I must admit it sounds disgusting to me and reminds me of that bizarre concoction I ate in Washington State of Peaches in Mayonnaise ( horrid, horrid stuff).

I love fresh pears with blue cheese but Banana, canned pears, cheddar and mayonnaise together sounds really awful. I would have to try it but I would be astonished it it tasted good to me. Banana and Cheddar ?!?! Really ?!?!?! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.............

It does make me feel a little queasy.

Must be a Southern thing. My mom made it all the time, without the bananas. It was a pear half topped with a dollop of mayo and grated cheddar cheese. Sometimes she put it on a lettuce leaf, sometimes not. I never ate it. I have never been a pear fan and I do not do mayo.

It was either bananas or pears. Not both. Of course not for everyone. I have to say, if I hadn't tried them, I would probably get kinda sick thinking about it, but it's so yummy. Something I very rarely eat though. It would just be canned pear halves or sliced bananas w/a healthy dollop of mayo and a bit of shredded cheddar. Again, was just curious how crazy this was.
A bit of research did bring up pear salad. Did not see anything similar w/bananas. Someone who hasn't tried it, should. Of course, I couldn't blame anyone not wanting to. I just kind of enjoy trying new foods personally. Even if they may not sound to good. An example would be sweetbreads. Not even sure what kind this guy bought, looked pretty gross, wasn't really even sure what it was, but it was darn tasty.

Here's another goodie my mom recently turned me onto. She made a fruit dip out of sour cream and sugar!! I normally do just eat fruit by itself. I couldn't believe it. I'm not sure if she's trying to fatten me up or what! I sure don't need the "help". Good ole Mom. I will say I loved it. That one time was the only time I tried it though. I really do try to avoid things like that. I'm kinda scared about what's next. Maybe I'll start a new thread about the crazy unhealthy things my mom likes to feed me.

^^^^ Sour cream with a little sugar + a drop of vanilla surely beats the fatty mayo.
