Do you love garlic? I do! In our house, if you don't like garlic you are likely to starve. Pasta sauces? Pan-fried seafood? Roasted meats? Stews and soups? Salad dressings? Stir fry? Garlic, garlic and more garlic. Heck, roasting up the bulb whole in the oven is fantastic!
Personally, I find jarred garlic to be tasteless and lacking bite. How much garlic do you use per week on average? What are your favorite dishes that you put garlic in? Tell us your garlicy adventures!
I love fresh garlic. In fact this year I planted it for the first time. I also have a jar of minced garlic in my refrigerator just in case I run out of fresh. And I always have 3 or 4 spice jars of garlic powder on my shelves.
When I buy fresh garlic, I buy a package (with three bulbs) at least two times a month and sometimes more as I really use a lot of garlic. I roast it for some dishes. I mince it for some dishes and even use minced garlic in my fresh lettuce salads. I use it in soups, stews, pasta - garlic and butter over linguini, and a million other dishes.
The medicinal qualities of garlic are amazing. And it also keeps the vampires away too!
Rediscovered garlic only about 4 years ago. My mother never cooked with it and DH said he didn't like it but after watching Emeril and other cooks using it so much I decided to start using more and more. DH never said a word so I figured he just one time had a bad dish and blamed it on the garlic. I use a bulb a week at least. I love my garlic press which stays in constant use. i can't think of a meal I prepare where I don't use garlic and if a recipe says 1 clove I use 3 or 4!
