Maybe twice a year due to the convenience. They're $5.99 at the market I go to. We used to buy the rotisserie more often, but the same store offers 'picnic chicken' for the same price that's a billion times better than chain fried chicken so we opt for that more often. Besides, we're thigh people when it comes to chicken. You can have the less tasty breast.
and do you like the bbq or herbed ones or just the plain ones and how do you use them?
I have found they are very cheap and usually tasty and so convenient. However we all prefer white meat even though I do hide the dark in casseroles or chicken salad.
How much is your store's chicken? It really doesn't matter to me if I'm in a hurry and don't have time or don't want to mess with cooking one.
In our area, they cost the same. Yes, they are a BIG convenience when a tasty and FAST meal is needed. Plus, they are always cooked just right, so juicy and tender. I like all flavors, but prefer the herb.
I save the carcass and make broth with it the next day.
I buy them a few times a month from Whole Food for $6.99 (or is it 7.99)? They are not excessively salty nor do they pump them up with saline. I use them to make all kinds of things...chicken enchiladas, bbq chicken pizza (also make my own bbq sauce), chicken salad, chicken sandwiches for school lunches. We don't use lunchmeat @8.99lb for the kind w/o additives so the chicken is a nice treat.
I buy them maybe once a month. I think they are rather small and I can eat one by myself. They are so good and greasy it is hard to resist devouring it right then and there. I would like to learn to cook one on my own as I think it would be much cheaper and less salty.
I never buy them because I have a freezer full of home raised chicken that is about 1000 times better than store bought.
My son's brother buys one every week and uses the meat to make sandwiches for his lunch. They smell nice, but doggone do they ever look small after being used to seeing my home raised birds
I rarely buy them because I do not like how messy it gets taking the chicken off the bone. It is just too greasy (maybe it is just juice, but it seems like grease) for me. However, the cats love it.
wanted to rep you but have to spread it around. I too, find them messy and am surprised anyone finds them dry. Usually the ones we get are very moist..I guess it depends on where you get them. We usually get ours at Sam's,
Do I buy them? Yes, about 2 or 3 a year and yes, I think they are a great deal for convenience and flavor...Because there are only 2 of us, one lasts 3 or 4 meals..that is less than 2.00 a meal for meat.
I never thought that I would, however Sam's Club Rot. chicken is $4.99 for 3 lbs. and it is brined and succulent. I can't buy and roast them for that cheaply. I buy a couple a month & then use the carcass for soup.

1-2 times a year, I guess. I don't like them that much, but sometimes after a long day at the hospital it is something I can quickly run in and get while hubby waits in the car.
Rarely. If we wish that type of chicken we go to Boston Market and order it there for carry out.
