Who cares LOL and I work there. Old news BTW. I actually had a guy last year who said if he had his measuring tape with him he would have measured the sub. He was not joking. I believe it's 11 inches.

And likewise, I find this to be absolutely ridiculous. Time to teach those sandwich makers how to use a micrometer!
We have no control over the size, the bread comes in as frozen sticks, it's proofed for one hour then baked for 14 minutes.

Bankruptcy!
You've obviously never run a low margin food based business before.

I'm not a big Subway fan FYI I buy from local delis.

Also I believe there is an option to buy extra meat and cheese.

Could they get these same lawyers to measure the 2 by 4s at the lumberyards?

The restaurant business, in general, is brutal. Consistency is the key to profitability.

Maybe the founder's foot is only 11 inches long. Or hey - maybe he wears a size 9, but is being generous by making his foot-long subs LONGER than his feet. The ads don't say 12-inch subs. They say foot-long. MY foot is only 9.25 inches long, from heel to big toe. I just measured it. Be glad they don't specify whose foot, and accept 11 inches of bread with a smile.

Additionally, they're not skimping on the fillings - they don't measure those by "how much will fit on a 12-foot sub." They measure them by weight. Except the extra toppings like lettuce and tomato and banana peppers - they'll give you as much as they can stuff onto the sub, if you want them to, no extra charge.

And John, you're the one who posted this back in 2013, not the news wire you got the lawsuit article from.

I have close friends and family that own restaurants and one that is an Independant specialty grocer with 7 locations.

Brutal is definately an appropriate adjective.

The last time I went they didnt. They were skimpy on the lettuce, didn't even cover the entire sandwich, and when I asked for more I was told it would be 50 cents for each topping I wanted extra of. 50 cents for extra lettuce?! I can a whole head of lettuce for that price.

50 cents extra for lettuce??? Not in NY or at least not in the 2 locations my boss owns. That's ludicrous. Extra meat and cheese is a charge but not extra veggies.
