I've got bacon in fridge that is from sept. It doesn't smell bad at all. Looks fine. I actually used it in the last 3 weeks.

Is it wrong to keep using it? It's cured and been in fridge. I'm think'n it's fine.

What do you think?

It's been in your fridge for 5 months...that's a long time. I think I'd toss it. How long has the package been open? Does it have an expiration date?

I go by smell and feel and appearance.

Guide:
Bacon - How Long Does Bacon Last? Shelf Life Expiration Date

And if its over the guidelines or I am nervous I just cook it very well.
Still alive all these years later...lol

Dont chance it if you have someone prone to infection or diabetics eating it. (prone to issues)

I think you need to reevaluate your eating habits.

I can never remember ever having an open package of uncooked bacon in my life.

I know exactly what you mean.
I should give up my man card now.

It was a 5# pkg and I don't eat much anymore.

Well I went ahead and cooked about 5 slices. No bad smell raw, no bad smell cooked, so I ate some
and chopped up some to stuff in a burger for today.

I'm still here, didn't get sick, so all is good........so far.

Gotcha.

There are these new fangled contraptions called ziploc bags that allow you to break up and store mor manageable portions in the freezer as needed.

Man Card reinstated for courage to try potentially tainted meat products.

HAHAHA! I know, but I thought I was man enough to eat all that bacon quickly.

I'm single now, so plenty of "tainted meat" products consumed.

What I do is make 1/2 lb of bacon and freeze the rest for another time.

I find that a package of bacon once opened, can make it up to two weeks, (although it starts looking and smelling slightly off after one week)

I can't imagine after five months! Glad you didn't get sick though.
