I was at Walmart the other day and always pick up a couple of those Dole salads in a bag thing. I enjoy salads at meals and these are convenient. Anyway, I noticed there was just the Walmart brand. A produce person told me they are switching over to the Marketfresh brands for a lot of things. Has anyone else noticed this? I do like to have a choice. So guess I'll either go to Safeway, or buy all the ingredients and make my own.

The other day I bought one of these mixed iceberg salads and it was mostly carrots with very little lettuce. I'm just not buying the bagged salads from now on....I will make my own.

I buy the salads in bag when they are on sale, they can be a bit pricey otherwise. I get that you are paying for the convience, but IDK... it just depends.

The one thing that I can't do anymore is bottled salad dressing... most of them taste god awful.

The ones that are olive oil based and by Paul Newman are pretty good.

But the ranches and blue cheese's are just horrible...

We usually get ours from Costco. The iceberg mix is a pretty big bag, so we have to hustle to eat that one up before it goes bad; that's better in the summertime. The Parisian is a nice mix, though, and easier to finish. It comes with little bags of mix-ins and dressing. Sometimes we use the dressing, sometimes not, because it is sweet. I generally do not like sweet salad dressings.

I buy the bagged salads when they are on sale too. I have a few choices in my supermarket but I like the dole brand best. I buy the Italian blend.

I'm not an iceberg lettuce fan, so I usually get the spinach or some dark green lettuce in a bag (romaine?).

And although I buy a lot of packaged/frozen food from Walmart, I draw the line at produce. To iffy for me.

Our Wal Mart has been switching over to their own brands for almost a year now. In the canned goods mostly Great Value which is their brand. They are stopping carrying certain brand items like Davids sunflower seeds & kernals they have a generic brand only now. Croutons the same thing so I just don't buy many grocery items there. I never ever bought meat there.

I've been buying some of the Market Fresh things like their spring mix and their baby spinach. I've been quite pleased and have actually liked it better than some of the Dole salads.

I like the convenience of the bagged salads. The one I like the most is the romaine lettuce mix from Dole. I usually like to get these bagged salads from my local 99 Cents Only store. Otherwise, anywhere else I think they're overpriced.

I hate. hate HATE bagged salads. The quality is almost always inferior than if you were just to make your own. It's really not that much more effort to wash lettuce and cut it. Many bagged salads are just filled with cheap iceberg lettuce garbage.
