I've also been known to slice up leftover meatloaf and reheat it in a frying pan along with some pan fried potatoes..very tasty But I'm still at a loss
as to what to have tonite. We've got some folks dropping by briefly at 6pm.
I hate to be in the middle of cooking something and have to stop to do business. Maybe mac n cheese and hotdogs????

Isn't panko wonderful! it fries everything so crisp and brown. In Japan a favorite meal is thin pork cutlets (flour and then an egg wash and then panko) fry golden brown. It is called "Tunkatsu". It is served with a sweet sauce (Kikoman makes a Tunkatsu Sauce for dipping.) and shredded cabbage on the side. The cabbage is regular american cabbabe, not the nappa cabbage and it isnt dressed like a cole slaw--just cabbage--and of course every meal has a seperate rice bowl. The japanese word for bread is "pan" so panko must mean breadcrumbs. lol (I thnk the pan is probably a version of the european word for bread...I don't think bread was traditional until the explorers and missionaries came. They do grow wheat and make bread now....
panko really rocks! I love to use it when I make jaegerschnitzel, the pork comes out soooooo yummy!
I use it on fish, chicken, veggies..... am playing with the idea of using it for topping for a peach crumb pie...... the japanese have contrubuted so much to cuisine!
ah.....schnitzel---a girl after my own heart.! Well I decided on shrimp amd feta cheese quiche... I'll use the premade pie shell and that should speed things up.

Jaegerschnitzel is a pounded, breaded veal(wont eat veal, so its pork for me!)or pork cutlet, breaded (I use the panko, makes it all crispy, crunchy) with this yummy mushroom, wine, bacon, sour cream gravy, spaetzle are german dumplings, you can also do mashed potatoes.... will go find my recipe for these, and post later this evening in this thread, its the most yummy meal, and makes my little german midwestern soul very happy!
