O that is hard. It's very sad to lose your loved ones but at age 97 I think I would be ready to depart too... and I'd probably want you to stay home and have your party.

My sympathy to you and your family for your sad loss....

I've just finished dinner. Simple but it hit the spot. Creamy, Cheesy, full of crumbled bacon tomato soup...

So sorry about Grandma HG. Mine died about 10 years ago at 94 y.o. I still think about her and about how much more time I wish I had spent with her.

You'll always be thankful to have been able to spend a few more hours with her.
You have next new year's eve.

HighlandsGal, please accept my sympathy on the loss of your grandmother; I hope that she'll be a part of you for a long time to come, and that you'll find her voice in the back of your mind when you need to. Hugs to you, and I hope your travels are easy.

Spouse wound up taking the boy back to La Crosse while I went grocery shopping, so I get to make supper tonight for a change. It'll be a really simple, basic meal: a couple of bone-in chicken breasts coated with bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese and garlic powder and baked, with a single big baking potato turned into a twice-baked potato that we can split. A whole one is too much for us old farts to eat, but half is just about right. I'll probably warm up the leftover sweet and sour red cabbage from Christmas day dinner for a veg.

Have a good evening, all, and take care.

HG: I am so sorry for the passing of your grandma. Even though she had a long life it is still hard when you lose someone so dear. I had 2 cousins that celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary, she was 90 and he 95. The following year she passed away and then he did. Be safe flying home. There is always next year.

Well Southdowns recipe for the rib roast was just perfect, thank you again.
We had riced mashed potatoes, b. sprouts, sauteed onions and mushrooms in burgundy wine/butter sauce & buttermilk biscuits. I had made homemade turkey soup and we forgot to eat it. lol To quote skbs, we are stuffed.

I hope everyone has a great night.
