We had a pot roast of beef tonight with potatoes and carrots....the gravy had tomato soup and horseradish and onion and celery and green chilis; it was wonderful. I liked that it was very tender...but not falling apart into shreds....you could get nice lean slices.

Picked about two gallons of blackberries today, and had a craving for pancakes, so I made pancakes and put a couple of handfuls of blackberries in the batter, and a few more on top and topped them off with boysenberry syrup.

For dessert I had a big piece of cantaloupe.

At the store today I looked at the HIGH prices of fish sticks and other pre-prepped fish stuff, then at the LOW price of pollock fillets and thought - ha! - I can make panko pollock.

So that's dinner tomorrow night.

Panko Pollock is also the name of Jackson's younger brother....

(pollock's the latest thing with trendy London chefs y'know Pollock sales up 44% this year - Times Online)
