I think Asians have the most disgusting foods, especially the Koreans, Vietnamese, Japanese and the Indians. Only exception are the Chinese. Mideastern and African don't look too appealing either.

I think Americans have the best foods. American restaurants are also cleaner and more fixed up looking, thus the reason I avoid "ethnic" places.

It sounds like you haven't tried many foods. Your ethnocentrism is legendary. lol!

The cuisine of the Philippines kind of freaks me out. The barbecued pork and the little egg-roll-type things i've had are awesome, but when my friends describe stuff like balut and the blood soup, I DEFINITELY get a little freaked out. One of my closest friends is of Chinese descent, but is from the Philippines, so she's got like this double whammy of weird (from my very American perspective) in terms of what she'll eat. She tried to convince me that "fish head casserole" would be awesome to try from this one Chinese restaurant, and I just had to let her know that was never going to fly. Ever.

The cultural disconnect has been a great source of amusement to both of us, actually. One time, when I bought corn to eat, she saw a worm drop out while I was husking it, and told me she couldn't eat anything that had worms in it. I was like "Just last week you tried to get me to eat TRIPE! And a worm on your uncooked corn is upsetting you????"

Anything that's traditionally very heavy on seafood is hard for me to get behind.

I understand some dishes from the Philippines are quite challenging for most non-Filipinos. I've had the good fortune of trying many challenging Filipino dishes and I enjoy quite a few of them. The dishes I like the most are dinuguan or "chocolate meat" (pig innards with blood), crispy pata, pancit bihon, balut, lechon, goat, arroz caldo, pinakbet, sari sari and mongo beans.

America may have the cleanest restaourants, but certainly not the best food; not by a long shot.

I don't see Caribbean food on the poll.
We have so many Caribbean restaurants here and I love the food! Souse. Saltfish and ackee. Soursop. Patties. Conch chowder. Oxtail. Jerk chicken.
Delicious.

I've got to say Chinese (they eat everything including cats) or Filipino (they cook dog as bar snacks).

Lol I answered before I'd read this.

I'm sharing with my Filipina friend at the moment who is a cooking freak, the only problem is I can't (won't) eat most of it.

I just don't like it - we are used to eating FRESH in Australia and Filipinos are used to eating SPAM.

ayyyyyyyyy.

I love Filipino food, used to have some Filipino neighbors and their cooking was amazing.

I have travelled the world and tried many cuisines. I love most ethnic foods, and am not at all scared off by strange ingredients. However, I have never been very fond of Indian food. It just does nothing for me, and I'm not fond of Indian curries. Thai curries I can do, but Indian ones just don't sit well with me.
