Recently, my family (really my wife) has stopped buying soft drinks for the house. The kids have gotten used to it by drinking the MIO flavored water or milk/juice. My wife and I drink the same.
But I still drink about 1 beer a night. My question for those of you that are more knowledgable concerning nutrition is this: which would you choose to drink between the two regardling heathiness - soft drinks or beer/wine?
Please keep the responses to a non-religious aspect: I'm not referring to the morals or ethics of consuming alcohol, merely the health aspect of it compared to sugary soft drinks. Thanks.
Alcohol in moderation has known health benefits. Soda does not.
Agree with this ^^^. We don't drink soda - just plain water with lemon, or carbonated waters. We usually have a glass or two of wine with dinner, on occasion a beer. One or two drinks per night have been shown to have health benefits, sodas offer nothing.
I will drink a soda rarely, like one can a month split with my wife. I drink wine or a beer about every day. A soda has nothing positive going for it health wise.
I drink water all the time, tea sometimes, soda when I want a different taste.

A cocktail before dinner or wine with dinner is no problem in my opinion. Soda or Crystal Light and stuff like that is just junk. I drink plain water all day.
For me, one beer a day (after working out), 1-2 glasses of merlot in the evening. I drink a can of soda once a year. Other than that, coffee and water.
One beer a day has no really harmful effects unless you are already in fragile health. Soda is just sugar water with additives. However, alcohol is just FERMENTED sugar water, so hey, you pays your money and you takes your choice.
I really appreciate he feedback that all of your have given me. It confirmed what I thought, but I wasn't sure, and it's nice to have the feedback of others who know.
I'd prefer a soft drink, but one glass of light wine per day is proven to be beneficial for you and your cardiac health.
