It's always farmer's market time in SoCal!! This last week they had the first peaches and cherries of the year. I didn't buy any, because I can't get it out of my head that it's too early for peaches and cherries!
Produce that is always available includes avocados, salad greens, broccoli, apples, lemons, and more. There are vendors selling eggs and grass-fed beef but they are too expensive for me. I do buy raw local honey there.
The navel oranges are just about over. We'll be getting Valencia oranges from now on.
Also in season right now... Asparagus, sugar snap peas, strawberries (we have them all year round actually, but they are sweeter now).
( 2nd paragraph).................."they are too expensive for me "
farm fresh eggs ?
A guy near me brings them to a gathering place and sells them for $1.75 a dozen

The State Farmers Market in Raleigh is year round, 7 days a week. Some of the smaller communities opened their Saturday-only farmers markets within the last few weeks. But if I want to go to a FM, I skip the smaller ones and just head to Raleigh.

We get most of our strawberries from Ca and we have had them pretty much this whole year. I grew up in Los Angeles, mom would go to the Grand Central station every Thursday for produce. I think sometimes she only went every 2 weeks. She would pick me up from school and we would venture downtown. After she got what we needed we would have a coke and head to daddy's office. We would pick him up and then head for the Butcher shop near Chinatown for our meat. I guess this is why I have never been one for canned veggies or even frozen very often.
They're about $4 a dozen at our farmer's market, which is ridiculous. So no, I don't buy them there.
They are $2.50 a dozen here, sometimes only $2 and very large.
